CRA COMMITTEE 2026/7

ALAN PEARCE (CHAIRMAN):
I have lived in Carlswald for more than 20 years at 129 Springfield Rd, with my wife Penny, and have two children, Tyrone, who is fairly well known in the community for his tech skills, and my daughter Lauren.
I am self-employed, have run a successful telecommunications company for the last 32 years, and have been in the industry all my working career.
I have experience running committees at various stages of my life, including Sailing, School PTA, and amateur Rugby administration.
VINESH MAHARAJ (VICE_CHAIRMAN)
I am Director of Smart Manufacturing & Industry for NTT DATA Middle East Africa, bringing 30 years of experience as an engineer. I have worked across various industries and served as a consulting engineer on bulk infrastructure projects. Professionally registered with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) and a certified director through the Institute of Directors in South Africa (IoDSA), I have managed Food For Life (FFL) Midrand for the past 12 years, overseeing its continued growth.
FFL Midrand based at 68 Norfolk Rd started out serving 900 meals a month in 2012 and very little infrastructure. Currently FFL currently consistently serves 5000-6000 meals per month and have a 300m2 modern kitchen that took 7 years to build. At their peak they served 1.3 million meals in a year with a google grant in 2021. MiWay Insurance partnered with FFL Midrand to distribute 33000 meals since last Mandela Day until end May.
RICKUS BOUWER
Most of you know me or have heard of me due to the real estate business in the area. I have been living at 97 Norfolk Street for the last 9 years and been actively involved in the CRA from sponsoring clean ups to helping out where there has been a need.
I have also tried to ensure any property that sell in the area either lands up with quality nature lovers or at least a developer that values our land more than others and are committed to not over supplying the development with high density cheap flats.
We have a vested interest in Carlswald as we live here and it provides a fair amount of business here. My kids and parents live with me and we love every bit of Carlswald. Carlswald has and always will be very special to me, I love living amongst nature yet 5min away from about 7 Woollies stores and 1min from my office. My commitment to doing the best for Carlswald AH will always be there, it’s a special little piece of paradise.
MARJORIE DALTON (SECRETARY, Financial and Administration)
I have lived in the Midrand area since 1989 and moved into 80 Milford Rd Carlswald in 2002, along with my husband, two young children and my parents. Fast forward to today – I am a grannie and four generations live on the property. Whilst it is hard work living on a “plot” the rewards are immense.
I am a registered Chartered Accountant, having qualified with KPMG many years ago. I left KPMG in 1991 when I had my first child and started providing accounting and tax services to a few clients, including my husband’s business. Over the years I have become more involved with my husband’s business and am now employed full time there, and also providing accounting services to some of my original clients. I have been involved with the CRA committee on and off since moving into the suburb, and my father, Guy Cartwright was one of the founder members of CPW (now CRA) and was on the committee until his passing in 2009.
CARLA DE GOUVEIA (Clean-Up and Environmental)
I have been a proud resident of Carlswald at 59 Norfolk Rd for the past 20 years, where I live with my family. As such, I have seen the area grow and change. As a yoga teacher, I am passionate about wellbeing – not only on a personal level, but within the community as a whole. I believe that a clean, cared-for environment plays a vital role in our collective health and quality of life, and I am especially committed to promoting a litter-free neighbourhood. I look forward to contributing positively to our residents’ association and helping to maintain the beauty and spirit of our beautiful valley.
SUE-RINA HAUPT
I have been a homeowner at 101 Eastbourne Rd in Carlswald AH since 2011. I have been actively involved with the Carlswald Residents Association since 2022, supporting community administration, including the management of our WhatsApp groups.
With a background in business administration and business process improvement, I value practical systems, efficiency, and collaborative problem-solving. Apart from managing 2 small businesses, living life with my husband and Gr1 daughter, I am passionate about education and currently involved in improving a school library through updates to its book stock, processes, layout, and child engagement experience.
I believe in a ‘row the boat rather than rock the boat’ approach, with a focus on working together to address service delivery challenges, strengthening community cohesion, and creating a safer environment for families and neighbours. My hope is to contribute towards building a community where residents can feel increasingly safe, connected, and proud to call Carlswald home.

GREG SHIERS
I spend half my life in the high-stakes world of UK Fintech as Group COO and Managing Director of our SA Office, where my days are centred on solving complex problems. The other half is rooted in Carlswald, where I grew up at 98 Norfolk Rd with my parents Anne and Geoff, and have since gravitated back to. In my spare time, I’m an avid enduro rider, adventuring through the mountains to keep myself young. My wife and two children are my primary drivers, and as a lifelong Midrand resident, I’m looking forward to helping the CRA keep our neighbourhood safe, functional, and family-friendly.
RYAN SMITH
I am a finance professional working for a financial services company. I have lived in Carlswald for nearly 2 years at the Lincoln. I want to maintain the sense of community within carlswald and hope to make any small amount of difference. I enjoy doing DIY in my spare time
